Sanford backs plan by Pickens

Gov. Mark Sanford signed a pledge Friday to join T. Boone Pickens’ campaign to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. The Pickens Plan, unveiled in July, calls for investing in power generation from domestic renewable resources such as wind and using the country’s natural gas supply to fuel transportation, replacing more than a third of imported fuel and saving more than $230 billion a year.
