Commissioner of Agriculture tours first ACRE grant, on-farm wind turbine

Commissioner of Agriculture John Stulp and project partners toured the first “ACRE grant” wind turbine erected on the Eastern Plains Oct. 29. Dallas Gilbert of Bennett has completed installation of a Skystream 1.8kW wind turbine, to help offset energy cost on his heritage poultry farm, Eastern Plains Natural Food Co-op.

Pownal family pleased with wind turbine/cell tower

Friday, November 7 POWNAL — The wind turbine overlooking Route 7 through Pownal is producing electricity after a long permitting process, said Marilyn Gardner, who lives at the Hill Top Farm where the turbine is located. Gardner and her husband, Mike, were approached by Verizon three years ago about leasing part of their land for a cell tower.
