Washington — The Senate passed the $636 billion Department of Defense appropriations bill this morning that includes millions of dollars for military-related projects by Michigan companies, plus an extension of unemployment benefits and COBRA health insurance subsidies for laid-off workers.

OPEC may need to cut supply in 2010, not now: PFC

OPEC could have to cut oil supply by 1 million barrels per day (bpd) early in 2010 if weak demand results in a further rise in already swollen global inventories, consultancy PFC Energy said in a report.

Wind farm proposed for 2 Indiana counties

Muncie — A Chicago company wants to build a $300 million to $400 million wind farm in Delaware and Randolph counties. About 100 landowners met with representatives of E.ON Climate & Renewables North America to discuss the proposal by the U.S. subsidiary of a German energy company. Landowners could receive $7,000 to $9,000 a year in lease payments for each wind turbine on their land.
